How CBC Helps the NDP Greenwash the Destruction of Our Planet
B.C. NDP Emergency Management Minister Kelly Greene told a Monday news conference that there were approximately 1,100 properties on evacuation order and a further 600 on evacuation alert throughout B.C. "While we are moving towards the last part of the wildfire season, the risk is still very real," she said. "We need to stay prepared for all possibilities and your actions matter. They help protect communities and the people working tirelessly on the front lines."
The media do this all the time; report these quotes from NDP officials saying things like .... 'your actions matter. They help protect communities and the people working tirelessly on the front lines. So the media let the NDP identify with the firefighters... but the media never mention that the fucking NDP has been building pipelines and cutting down forests and Fracking and poisoning our water and shipping off LNG as fast as they can. Plus Site C. The NDP are causing the fires, but the totally corrupt media makes the NDP sound like the fire heroes. (And they make them sound like the heroes because the NDP is doing exactly what the corporations who own the media want ... namely putting corporate profit ahead of public health and the destruction of our planet. So their reward is that big biz lets them stay in power and they can all have nice and wonderful careers and pensions; and maybe go to work for a PR firm after they retire. But it's all dependant on being willing to totally betray the people who trust you and actually believe what you are saying. And all the politicians seem to very willing and happy to do that.....
What we have in Canada, unfortunately, are the politicians and the media, working together under the control of Corporate Canada, to extract as much profit and wealth from Canada as they can. We've had about eight years of NDP government ONLY because the NDP corrupt lying leadership gang do whatever big business wants. If the NDP dared to stand up for the people of BC, they would be out of office probably within two months. That is the power of the corporate media - the media would create a story about a David Eby sex scandal or 'division in the party' or a financial scandal or whatever ... and the party would be swept from office because WE always believe and trust the media. And that trust in the corporate owned media is one of our greatest weaknesses and problems. (Or so I think.)
