THIS TALK IS ABOUT THE TARIFF STORY THE CORPORATE MEDIA WON'T TELL US
and it's about WHY they won't tell us that story.
(August 31, 2025): The story they won't tell us is that in The United States, The President does NOT control tariffs - The Congress does: And this is a very important point, because it means that all the blame being put on an out-of-control President Trump is not the true story.
The fact is that ... Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution explicitly grants Congress the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, and imposts. Imposts ARE taxes on imports. Tariffs, being a form of tax on imports, fall squarely within this provision. Therefore, any effort to impose tariffs or modify them must come from the legislative branch.
This means that It is NOT an out-of-control president Trump who is doing this Tariff Craziness to Canada and the rest of the world. The fact is that The Congress is allowing him to do this, and the corporate media almost never talk about it. This shows (in my opinion) that the full U.S. deep-state Government fully approve of the tariff lunacy that President Trump has brought to the world since his inauguration eight months ago. To be clear, the Congress could have stopped all this tariff craziness from Day One if the Congressional leadership had wanted to stop them. And the fact that the Congress is doing nothing shows that for whatever reason, they want the tariff craziness to go ahead.
And I am not opposed to tariffs, I think tariffs can play an important role in a nation's economic strategies. But President Trump is giving tariffs a bad name - and he is turning the entire world against the United States. Canada is now looking for 'new partners'. As is the E.U. As is India. And Brazil and Japan and etc. All these nations have been hit and angered by Trump's crazy tariff policies - where the tariffs go up and down and then get canceled and then brought back - and are driving everyone crazy.
Imagine if The United States had A Real Congress and A Real Free Press. In that case, the Congress could bring in a sane and reasonable tariff policy, giving other nations a sensible tariff plan to look at and giving everyone time to react. Nothing would be done overnight as Trump has done again and again. There would be time for industries and nations to react. It could all make sense and it could work. That's what The Congressional Leadership 'could' have done. But instead they have done just about nothing and let Trump do what he has done.
And the U.S. corporate media is totally betraying the American people by not informing them of the real tariff powers of the Congress. The media are not putting pressure on the Congress to bring in a sane tariff policy. What Trump is doing is unconstitutional, but the media won't tell the American people that fact. Why not? Is it because the owners of the media support Trump's tariff policies and don't want the American people to know the truth about the Congress' ability to stop all this?
If The Owners of the Corporate Media didn't support Trump's tariffs, they would all be screaming at the top of their lungs to stop them from happening. But it's pretty clear they don't want to tell people that The Congress NOT The President controls tariffs.. And there should be a lot of questions about ... 'why don't the owners of the media want to tell people about that...
So clearly (in my opinion) the Congressional Leadership of both parties, certainly including the Democratic Party Leadership, fully support what President Trump is doing. And so do the owners of the corporate media. And what he is doing is isolating America and weakening it, and removing it to some extent from its position as 'the world leader'. And both the Congress and the Media are going along with it. Which I think means that destabilizing the United States IS the official plan.
For example, look at the anger in Canada towards the United States because of Trump's tariffs. Our media and political leaders have been telling us for months that the old relationship with The United States is over. Which means we are looking for new trade and security partners. And much of the rest of the world is in the same boat. So, it is - in many ways - chaos. Which is not a good thing; but which does seem to be the plan right now.
If these crazy tariff policies were being done by an out-of-control president, that's one thing... but it really looks like the Congressional leadership and the media are also complicit because they are letting Trump do it. He is turning the United States into a country whose friends and allies and trading partners can't trust. Which means the United States is potentially losing friends and allies and trading partners. For example there have been high level meetings between India and China just in the past few days after Trump imposed 50% tariffs on India.
To me, this means that the United States is being deliberately weakened and isolated. Trump is doing it but he is able to do it only because the Congress is doing nothing and the media are silent.
And this is the tariff story that the corporate media won't tell us. It seems the mantle of power is being moved away from the United States. It's being blamed on Trump, but I think the reality is much deeper than that.
