THE TYLENOL STORY .. SAFE? OR DANGEROUS..
And are the media telling us the truth about this story?
(Sept. 28, 2025): Very recently, Tylenol's safety has come into the news as the U.S. Government has called it a possible cause of neuro-developmental disorders such as Autism and suggesting it should not be taken by pregnant women. We are now widely told, by the corporate media and the medical establishment that Tylenol is safe ... if taken as directed. And the media is ridiculing those that say otherwise. However ...
Liver Failure: First of all, Tylenol can be a very dangerous medicine. Its medicinal ingredient is acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is the most common cause of acute liver failure in the United States. So this is a powerful medicine that has to be used carefully. And it is relatively easy, it seems, to take too much of it.
Tylenol was owned by Johnson and Johnson. Johnson and Johnson's Baby Powder, which had been very widely used for generations, was found to contain ASBESTOS in 2019. Internal company documents and numerous consumer lawsuits revealed that J&J was aware of asbestos contamination in its talc products for decades. The contamination has been linked to asbestos-related illnesses, such as mesothelioma and ovarian cancer, in consumers who used the powder.
Recently, Tylenol was spun off from J&J into a corporation called Kenvue. The CEO of Kenvue is a long time senior executive at Johnson and Johnson; and J&J, as well as BlackRock and Vanguard, are major owned of Kenvue.
So we cannot really trust Johnson and Johnson or Kenvue or the corporate media or our governments when they tell us that Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is 'safe'. Not if baby powder can cause cancer, which it did, AND the company knew about it for decades and didn't bother to inform the people who were buying it to use on themselves and their babies that the baby powder contained asbestos. And I'm sure the media and government would have said that baby powder was safe; until it wasn't. And they don't seem to ever learn - or want to learn - from these kinds of tragic events.
So on Sept. 22 of this year.... according to a media release from the Dept. of Health and Human Services: President Donald J. Trump and U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced bold new actions to confront the nation’s autism spectrum disorder (ASD) epidemic, which has [/press-room/autism-epidemic-runs-rampant-new-data-shows-grants.html]surged nearly 400% since 2000 and now affects 1 in 31 American children.
The HHS press release stated: "HHS will act on acetaminophen. Today, the FDA will issue a physician notice and begin the process to initiate a safety label change for acetaminophen (Tylenol and similar products). HHS will launch a nationwide public service campaign to inform families and protect public health."
HHS also stated: The FDA is responding to prior clinical and laboratory studies that suggest a potential association between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. FDA also recognizes that there are contrary studies showing no association and that there can be risks for untreated fever in pregnancy, both for the mother and fetus.
Given the conflicting literature and lack of clear causal evidence, HHS wants to encourage clinicians to exercise their best judgment in use of acetaminophen for fevers and pain in pregnancy by prescribing the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration when treatment is required. Furthermore, FDA recognizes that acetaminophen is often the only tool for fevers and pain in pregnancy, as other alternatives (e.g., NSAIDs) have well documented adverse effects. FDA is partnering with manufacturers to update labeling and drive new research to safeguard mothers, children, and families.
Further to this, the US Food and Drug Administration stated: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today initiated the process for a label change for acetaminophen (Tylenol and similar products) to reflect evidence suggesting that the use of acetaminophen by pregnant women may be associated with an increased risk of neurological conditions such as autism and ADHD in children. The agency also issued a related letter alerting physicians nationwide.
“The FDA is taking action to make parents and doctors aware of a considerable body of evidence about potential risks associated with acetaminophen,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H. “Even with this body of evidence, the choice still belongs with parents. The precautionary principle may lead many to avoid using acetaminophen during pregnancy, especially since most low-grade fevers don’t require treatment. It remains reasonable, however, for pregnant women to use acetaminophen in certain scenarios.”
Evidence in recent years has suggested a correlation between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and subsequent diagnosis of conditions like autism and ADHD. Multiple large-scale cohort studies, including the Nurses’ Health Study II and the Boston Birth Cohort, find this association. Some studies have described that the risk may be most pronounced when acetaminophen is taken chronically throughout pregnancy.
A problem with our media. Here is how the CBC is handling that story ... and I think we should wonder if CBC is putting drug industry profits ahead of public health. On the same day as the HHA and FDA media releases, Sept. 22, the CBC put out a story titled: "Trump links the pain reliever Tylenol to Autism. Doctors and experts disagree." The CBC story states: A common drug for pain and fever management, Tylenol, is in the news. That’s because on Sept. 22, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed without definitive evidence that there was a connection between using acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) during pregnancy and an increased risk of children developing conditions like autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The CBC story continues: Doctors, scientists and major health organizations in Canada and around the world quickly pushed back against those claims, saying there was no confirmed evidence of a connection between Tylenol and autism. The difference between Trump’s claims and doctors’ expertise has many people confused and wondering what to do when it comes to taking Tylenol. https://www.cbc.ca/kidsnews/post/trump-links-the-pain-reliever-tylenol-to-autism-doctors-and-experts-disagree And ... https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-autism-tylenol-1.7639889
It is interesting that CBC CHOSE to ignore the scientific evidence present by HHS and the FDA, and to focus only on Trump as if he was making this up out of thin air. This is a misrepresentation of the truth by the CBC. They are deliberately misleading the Canadian people by presenting, as they so often do these days, ONLY the story they want us to hear. And they refuse to give us the full story and all the information that would allow us to draw our own conclusions. And believe me, I am NO fan of President Trump - but I am a fan of the media telling us the truth and this kind of action by CBC and much of the rest of Canada's media has got to be stopped - but at the moment there is no official body in Canada that is interested in forcing the media to tell us the truth. That is what The Free Press in Canada has come to be these days; a group of very large corporations that seem to work together to present us with an official story that they want us to believe and they seem to have no problem with simply ignoring the facts and truths that they don't want us to know about. And this is a very dangerous scenario for Canada and Canadians when the media routinely misinform and mislead us on important stories such as this one. And they do the same on many many issues.
I have no idea if Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe or dangerous. But I've long known of it's ability to cause liver damage and for that reason I almost never use it. When I see the studies mentioned by the FDA and HHS, I tend to believe that there may be something there. And all they are saying - to pregnant women - is Be Careful because there are major studies which seem to suggest that using Tylenol, or too much Tylenol, during pregnancy can have VERY tragic consequences. Which makes a lot of sense.
And, according to the US group Children's Health Defense: Concerns about a possible link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism are not new. In 2021, 91 scientists signed a consensus statement, published in the journal Nature Reviews Endocrinology, asserting that a growing body of research suggests that prenatal exposure to the drug may alter fetal development and increase the risks of neurodevelopment, reproductive and urogenital disorders. The scientists noted the drug had long been considered appropriate for pregnancy, but that new evidence showed it may be time to revisit the issue.
