CARNEY'S BILL C-5: BIG CHANGES COMING TO CANADA....
It's already happening and it isn't pretty... and it's going to get worse unless we can stop it
We're seeing growing poverty and growing wealth in Canada. More and more families it seems, can barely afford to eat. The housing disaster is moving Billions of Dollars from average Canadians up the ladder to the Investor and Business Classes - which I would suggest is the plan and certainly did not happen by accident. The health care mess is the same ... we have one of the most expensive health care systems in the world but it's a mess for a lot of people. And I would say that Billions of Dollars are moved away from good public health and towards corporate profits. Where does our money go? And who is the health care system run 'for'? In my opinion, I think our health care system is run for the same people our housing industry is run for; and that's not 'us'. I would say the housing industry and the health care industry are run more for corporate profit than to provide us Canadians with good homes and nice communities and good health ... Our homes and our health are probably the last things they care about.
And now we've got Mark Carney's Bill C-5; David Eby's Bill 15 here in BC, and Ontario's Bill 5. And no doubt others are coming. Because there's No Time To Waste ... it's 'the most grave crisis of our lifetimes' they tell us - bigger than Covid, bigger than 9/11, bigger than climate change and much bigger than the fact that we all have plastic in our brains now. And half of us will get cancer - but who cares. We need 'more' and this is bigger than anything before so we have to act 'fastest'. And they are acting fast ... these same governments that just can't find a way to keep repeat violent offenders and thieves and shoplifters who are destroying small businesses across Canada ... the same governments who can't fix that up have really shown what they can do when they want to.
We need to move ahead immediately with More Mines, More Oil, More LNG, More Fracking, More Logging, More Nuclear and More Military .... and most importantly of all - more Public Debt and more Corporate Profit. And meanwhile, people who should be in prison for the devastation they have caused, instead they are richer than ever while Canada is being turned into a Third World Country for many people.
And these new Bills are just one more step along the way... but they are a pretty big step so they are definitely worth fighting against. But they are all passed already. In Ontario, Doug Ford's Bill 5 creates (I read somewhere) Special Economic Zones in which basically no laws apply if they don't want them to. It's like Shock and Awe; a one-two punch by the politicians and governments and media - and before we can even blink, these bills are all passed.
To me it's just one more step away from 'democracy' because the public has no voice in any of this. We are totally irrelevant. And there is no question, from any politician or the media about ... Hey, is this what Canadians really want?? And if it's not what we want ... then do we have this great democracy they always tell us we have.
For example, I'm sure we never voted for the Housing Disaster that has befallen us over the past 25 years or so. But it was done to us; or at least one could make a very good case in a court of law that it was 'done' to us. I don't know what a jury might decide, but a case can certainly be made that this entire housing disaster has been a conspiracy from the beginning. Right back from when they removed our governments from building homes, and then the private sector began to create a shortage of homes in Canada and prices and rents began to go up ... and now here we are with I think the largest housing bubble in the world, or close to it. It's been a total disaster for a lot of people, but on the other handLOTS of money has been made ... so it's 'win - win'. And in my opinion, that is exactly how we are treated in Canada. The housing disaster is an example of what they do to take people's money. And it shows the power they have to be able to do it and keep the truth completely hidden. (Or maybe I am completely crazy.) But I am interested in 'the truth' and when I look at what happened it seems that it was all quite deliberate. And there is no question that lots of money has been made by 'some' in the housing industry. And yet they do it so well that for the most part we still think we live in a great democracy and have a wonderful free press. Which is exactly what I thought for most of my life, but I certainly don't think it any more.
Now I think we live in 'A Corporate Dictatorship' masquerading as a wonderful democracy .... although the velvet glove has come off a bit over the past 20 years and we are beginning to see more and more of the iron fist underneath. The homeless are certainly seeing it ... placed on the street to suffer and die for corporate profit ... because we want to have A Real Shortage of homes in Canada. People waiting 15 hours in the E.R.s to see a doctor are seeing just how ruthless our leaders really are. Those who get cancer because some corporation said some chemicals are safe when they know they're not. And our governments let them do it. Is that what we want? But believe me, nobody in government or the media cares what we - the people of Canada- want. We are in my opinion totally irrelevant and so that is how we are treated.
WHAT DO WE NEED? Well we need access to information; but clearly the corporate media still seem to have massive control over the information people are getting. The idea of Build Build Build seems to be fully supported by the media and all the top politicians and political parties and governments. It would be nice to have a 'debate' about the need for more. It would be nice to have a discussion about the directions 'the people' want Canada to be going in. It would be nice to have a Citizens Assembly set up for BC and the same in Ontario and one for all of Canada to carry out a quick "inquiry" into these bills and to have a discussion about where we are and where we want to be going.
Because there is a price to be paid for having More and more and more. The 'more' that our governments and media are pushing has a price. And the price is we are destroying our planet as fast as we possibly can while living lives of massive over-consumption that can't go on. That's where we are at right now, and we have to start cutting back. But we have no say because the corporations own the big media'; and they control our governments and basically they have all the power, while we think we live in a great democracy and have a free press... Which is a very dangerous situation for us if what I have said is true.
So I would really like to see a Public Inquiry on 'these crazy bills'. Or maybe they are great and necessary bills. But it would be nice for Canadians to have that discussion. In a real democracy I think we would have some kind of very open and informative public process on these bills and at the end our governments would do what we want - whatever that may be.
But that kind of process ain't gonna happen in Canada - because the last thing our governments or media want is a democratic process. BUT ... on the other hand I think the big Enviro Groups could set it up. They have some money and they have staff and resources. Some Kind of Public Inquiry could be set up. Just bring in experts from all sides and live stream it and etc. And put it up on YouTube and all the rest for people to see.
I think the idea of some kind of Public Inquiry on Mark Carney's bill C5, Ontario's Bill 5, and David Eby's Bill 15 in BC would be a great thing to do... We could all learn a lot, which would be useful.
Our governments should do it but they won't. I think the enviro groups could make it happen. Just present information. Maybe have a place where people can send questions and get answers. I think something like that would be useful. Because the direction Canada is currently going in is the direction big business wants us to go, and in the end it will I think lead to major disasters for millions of Canadians which is not what I want to see happen. What I would like to see happen is more grassroots democracy in Canada; more power in the hands of the public and less power in the hands of Corporate Canada and the political parties. And I would love to see us able to take a look at Bill C-5, Bill 5, and Bill 15.
