DAVID EBY CHEATED HIS WAY INTO BECOMING THE PREMIER OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
I was a member of the BC NDP for a couple of years. I just resigned in disgust, but what I saw when I was a member was absolutely shocking. It is unbelievable how the BC NDP leadership gang operates. And I think ALL the big political parties in Canada are pretty much the same. Undemocratic and corrupt. And when I say corrupt I mean they are lying phonies who pretend to work for 'The People' but who really work for Big Business and the 1%.
In the BC NDP, in my opinion, the Leadership Gang does not give a DAMN about the party members, or the public, or the voters. Instead, the people who run the BC NDP, and who govern our province, seem to work for Big Business and the 1%. And that is certainly true of our Premier, David Eby. Who cheated his way into becoming the Premier of our Province with the full support of the NDP elite and the province's Corporate Owned Media.
Here's the story. In June of 2022, our NDP Premier John Horgan announced that he would be stepping down. https://www.timescolonist.com/local-news/bc-premier-says-hell-step-aside-as-ndp-leader-wont-seek-re-election-5528146
A contest began to choose a new leader of the BC NDP, and of course that person would become our new Premier. It quickly became evident that the only serious contender was David Eby, who had been Attorney General and later Minister of Housing in the John Horgan NDP government. It looked like an easy win for David Eby. He was a member of the province's political elite, and the corporations that run British Columbia knew that David Eby could be trusted to continue the massive environmental destruction of Open Pit Mining, Clearcut Logging, Fracking and LNG that BCs economy has been based on for decades. The corporations also knew that Mr. Eby could be counted on to keep corporate taxes and taxes on the rich low. So Big Business and the corporate media and the NDP Party Elite loved David Eby and he looked like a shoo in to win the leadership race and become BC's next Premier.
But at the last minute, an NDP activist entered the race. Her name was Anjali Appadurai. She was a long time party member and a climate change activist who was very popular with the grass roots of the party. PHOTO: ( https://thenarwhal.ca/anjali-appadurai-bc-premier-race/ )
The entry fee to get into the race was I think about $30,000. Ms. Appadurai raised that over the course of one phone call with a few dozen supporters. And even worse, thousands of people who had completely given up on the NDP - including myself - began to join or re-join the party in order to support her leadership bid. She also had the support of big names in the NDP such as Avi Lewis who is now running for the leadership of the Federal NDP. Some big enviro groups, like BC's Dogwood Initiative also supported her. And within a few weeks, it began to look like she was going to beat David Eby, win the race, become the leader of the BC NDP, and become the Premier of British Columbia. https://www.biv.com/news/commentary/anjali-appadurais-campaign-threatens-derail-david-ebys-bc-ndp-coronation-8269117
Well of course NOBODY in a position of power in BC or in Canada wanted that to happen. So Ms. Appadurai had to be removed. And she was. How the NDP establishment stole the B.C. leadership race ⋆ The Breach
According to BreachMedia.ca: Over the following weeks, with current and former party insiders lending a hand, Appadurai’s campaign would be subjected to manipulative rule changes, targeted expulsions of (her) new members, public smears, and a biased investigation rife with double standards. It was a pattern that reflected what one former top-ranking B.C. NDP official told The Breach is the party’s “pervasive culture of cheating” to boost preferred candidates.
The main part of this corrupt attack on democracy was the hiring of party insider Elizabeth Cull to oversee the leadership race. BC NDP ‘fixer’ quietly changed leadership rules mid-race - Dogwood
Ms. Cull had been Finance Minister and Deputy Premier in a previous NDP government in the early 1990s. And more recently she was employed by one of the more evil corporations in the world, the Public Relations firm Hill and Knowlton. Hill and Knowlton does work for about HALF of the Fortune 500 companies, a perhaps strange association for a for a former NDP Deputy Premier. Hill and Knowlton is also infamous for its work in helping start the First Gulf War against Iraq back in 1990 -1991. The American people did not want to get into this war, so Hill and Knowlton helped create a story about how Iraqi soldiers had murdered babies in Kuwait ... the famous Incubator Babies story. The story was a complete lie, but the U.S. media reported it as true. Americans were outraged and so the war began. Hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians were killed by this war and its aftermath. THAT is the company that Elizabeth Cull worked for when she was hired to 'oversee' the BC NDP leadership campaign and make sure that Anjali Appadurai did NOT become the Premier of British Columbia. And to make sure that David Eby DID become our Premier.
According to BreachMedia.ca ... Appadurai's campaign would be subjected to manipulative rule changes, targeted expulsions of new members (who supported her), public smears, and a biased investigation rife with double standards. It was a pattern that reflected the party's pervasive culture of cheating. According to Ms. Appadurai .. '... at a certain point it became clear that the number of memberships that I had brought into the party exceeded that of (David Eby).' And when it seemed that she would win ... 'the pieces were put in place to disqualify me from the race'. And THAT is how things really work in Canada.
It is also worth noting that British Columbia's corporate owned media completely supported the removal of Ms. Appadurain from the race. They constantly let the NDP call her a cheater and all the corporate journalists linked her to the idea of cheating as if anything told by the NDP had to of course be true. Because of course the owners of the big media did not want a climate change activist to be the Premier of British Columbia. And of course the CBC was as bad or worse than any of the other corporate media. One CBC headline read: Anjali Appadurai was disqualified after internal B.C. NDP investigation found she broke campaigning rules. Without mentioning Hill and Knowlton, or how totally corrupt and undemocratic the leadership gang of the NDP is and has been for decades. Thank you CBC for one more betrayal of the people who trust and believe you. B.C. NDP ousts Anjali Appadurai from leadership race, paving way for David Eby to become premier | CBC News
In the end, the party leadership gang voted to remove Anjali Appadurai from the race and give the victory to David Eby, who is now our Premier. And THOSE are the people and the party who now govern British Columbia.
